DCE starts Advisory Board

Drum Corps Europe is proud to start an advisory board with people that are very involved with drum corps, but don’t have the time (any more) to contribute on a daily bases. They can advise the DCE board on specific issues or just in general. DCE is grateful for their time and input.

The first member is Richard Lems.

As a 5-year-old boy, Richard Lems started his music career with the youth Delta Band, but
soon he took the step to junior Drum Corps Johan Friso where he got his love for drum corps
at the percussion. He was drum major for the last 2 years as a member of Johan Friso.

After that he became a show instructor with Johan Friso for several years and active at Juliana
Drum & Bugle Corps. After a few years he spent the last 2 years of his Drum Corps career as
a Drum major at Blue Spirit. Then his professional career took too much time and he said the
Drum corps world farewell , but never from the heart.
After 11 years working at the Blokker holding in various managerial positions, he started at
the start up Rituals cosmetics 12 years ago which has now become an international chain
with more than 3000 outlets worldwide.

Within Rituals, Richard is responsible for the shop
image of Rituals and the worldwide expansion as Director Format & Design.

This international experience and its past with Drum Corps is a good reason for DCE to add him to
the advisory board of DCE. With his clear opinion and listening ear, he wants to help bringing
his old hobby to a higher level by supporting DCE and its participating corps.
